Manchester United are reportedly leading the race to sign Achraf Hakimi from Paris Saint-Germain this summer. The 24-year-old is on a list of right-back targets and it is believed that United are willing to meet his hefty £60m price tag.
Hakimi has been in fine form for PSG this season, registering nine assists and goals in 36 appearances in all competitions. He also ranks highly in Europe’s top leagues for attacking metrics such as assists, progressive passes, carries and successful take-ons.
The Moroccan international’s potential move to United would be a significant statement of intent by the club, and it would signal Erik ten Hag’s desire to bring a more comfortable ball-playing right-back to Old Trafford.
However, there is still some uncertainty surrounding Hakimi as he’s recently been at the centre of a bizarre story involving his personal life. Despite this, assuming that the situation doesn’t affect his performances on the pitch, he could prove to be an excellent signing for Manchester United.
It’s not just United who are interested in Hakimi, though, as Chelsea are also reportedly keen on bringing him to Stamford Bridge. However, due to their potential failure to qualify for the Champions League, United have moved ahead of them in the race for the defender.
All eyes will be on Old Trafford to see whether or not the Red Devils can secure the services of this highly-rated talent come the transfer window.
