Arsenal are on the hunt for a “complete midfielder” this summer, with Sporting CP’s Manuel Ugarte catching their eye in recent weeks. The Uruguayan midfielder has been a standout performer for the Portuguese side this season, mainly due to his defensive skills. Despite not contributing much in an attacking sense, Ugarte more than makes up for it with his tackles and interceptions. Manager Mikel Arteta is said to be impressed with the 22-year-old’s performances and has reportedly sent officials to watch him in action. However, with a price tag of €60m (£53.5m), it remains to be seen whether Arsenal will make a move for him or prioritize other targets such as Villarreal’s Samuel Chukwueze, Real Sociedad’s Robin Le Normand and Martin Zubimendi, or West Ham’s Declan Rice, who is reportedly open to a move to the Emirates.
