Update on Watkins to Arsenal: Romano Reveals

Arsenal fans have been eagerly anticipating the potential signing of Aston Villa star Ollie Watkins, but according to reliable transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, nothing has been advanced in regards to the move. Watkins has had a phenomenal season at Villa Park under the guidance of former Arsenal manager Unai Emery, scoring an impressive 12 league goals and providing four assists.

However, Romano emphasised that Watkins is currently focused on Villa and there is no indication of any interest from Arsenal or any other club vying for his signature. Despite this setback, Arsenal should remain vigilant and monitor Watkins’ rumoured contract negotiations with Villa before making any further moves.

Watkins’ attacking prowess cannot be denied – he has attempted more shots at goal per 90 than any other Villa player in the Premier League. Even former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand stated that Watkins deserves a place in the England squad and compared him to Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.

Ultimately, it remains to be seen whether Watkins will choose to stay at Villa or move on to a bigger club, but Arsenal’s interest in the striker is certainly justified.
