Gracia Needs to Set Free Leeds’ ‘Long-Term Project’ Now

Leeds United are in turmoil following their recent slump that has seen them concede a whopping 13 goals in their last three games, and the absence of Tyler Adams from the midfield hasn’t helped matters. But is it time for Javi Gracia to look to the promising youngster Darko Gyabi to help steady the ship?

The 19-year-old joined Leeds from Manchester City last summer but has struggled for game time this season. However, with Roca and McKennie failing to provide much protection for the shaky back four in recent games, the time may have come for Gyabi to step up and prove his worth.

In a recent interview, journalist Pete O’Rourke spoke about Gyabi’s potential, stating that if Leeds go down, the youngster could have more opportunities in the Championship next season, but that he is a long-term project for the club.

Leeds clearly have faith in Gyabi’s potential, but if they don’t offer him more first-team chances soon, he may end up achieving that potential elsewhere. Gracia must put his faith in the young midfielder and give him a chance to prove himself in the top flight, ahead of potentially making him a regular next season. It’s time to make a bold change at Elland Road and see what this promising youngster is capable of.
