Semi Ajayi Can Neutralize Will Keane in West Brom vs. Wigan Match

West Bromwich Albion will go against Wigan Athletic, a team struggling in the Championship, in an all-important clash tonight at the Hawthorns.

The Baggies aim to recover from a defeat to Hull City and reignite their chances of advancing in the playoffs. On the other hand, if Wigan secures a win, they will be six points away from a safe spot in the league table.

Former Manchester United striker Will Keane leads the attack for the Latics, having scored double figures this season.

To stop Wigan from earning a result tonight, West Brom’s coach Carlos Corberan must neutralize Keane, the team’s main threat. Bringing Semi Ajayi back to the starting side could be a suitable move.

Ajayi started the season well, but an injury halted his progress, and Erik Pieters replaced him. However, Keane is 6 foot 2, so Ajayi’s physicality could counteract the striker’s strength.

Moreover, Steve Bruce, Ajayi’s former boss, praised the defender and complimented his performances. Bruce said, “When he’s like he was on Saturday, he’s big, strong, powerful, quick, he gave a mountain of a performance, especially second half,” indicating the player’s potential against Keane’s dominance.

Ajayi’s average rating last season was 6.84, with 1.5 tackles, one interception, and three clearances per 90 (via Sofascore). Although he has played only three games from the bench in the last ten games, Ajayi could be the perfect player to stop Wigan’s main goal threat.
